Natural product synthesis

The total synthesis of natural products

Natural product synthesis is one of the most challenging arenas for determining the scope of synthetic methodology.  We apply strategies and reactions developed in the group to the synthesis of stereochemically complex natural products.  In particular, we are interested in natural products with embedded symmetry which we may exploit in their synthesis and, hence, reduce the number of synthetic steps required.  Some natural products in which we have a current interest are shown below.
