Dr  Alexis  Perry

Alexis Perry was awarded a first class MSci degree from the University of Glasgow in 2001.  He developed a range of methods for controlling the configuration of polyhydroxylated piperidines which he later exploited in the two-directional synthesis of unsymmetrical aza-C-linked disaccharides.  Alexis was supported by EPSRC and GSK.  After obtaining his PhD, Alexis travelled before taking up a postdoctoral position at the University of Sydney.

Alexis rejoined Professor Nelson's group for 3 months in 2007 as a postdoctoral co-worker.  He worked on  the synthesis of small molecules for elucidating molecular mechanisms controlling stem cell self-renewal (in collaboration with Prof. Melanie Welham, University of Bath), and was supported by BBSRC.  Alexis has now moved on to a postdoctoral position with Professor Richard Taylor at the University of York.
