Andrew completed his undergraduate degree with an MSci in Medicinal and Biological Chemistry at the University of Nottingham. He spent his final year project with Prof. Chris Hayes trying to develop copper catalysed routes to vinyl phosphonate oligonucleotides. He completed his Ph.D. in Chemical Biology in Sep. 2018 working with Dr. Elaine O’Reilly. His work focused on developing novel amine transaminase methodologies for industrial applications. He then joined the Nelson group in Oct. 2018 and is currently working on a Leverhulme funded project, developing activity directed synthesis for use with phenotypic screening methods
